Ivorian youth leading the fight against blood shortages.

We turn youth engagement into action so blood is available when and where it is needed most.

Blood shortages cost lives.

Around 2010, Côte d’Ivoire was only able to meet about 54% of its annual blood needs.

Behind that figure were delayed treatments, medical emergencies, families forced to search for blood at the last minute, and countless tragedies.

While major progress has been made over the years, the need for blood remains constant, and maintaining a stable blood supply still depends on regular donor mobilization.

That is why File l’Espoir exists: to help ensure blood is available before emergencies happen.

Who are we?

File l’Espoir is an Ivorian organization founded in 2022 to help address blood shortages in Côte d’Ivoire.

We bring together committed young leaders and a large network of volunteers aged 18 to 35 who inform, raise awareness, and mobilize communities so blood donation becomes part of everyday civic culture.

Based in Abidjan, we work alongside universities, local communities, healthcare actors, and institutional partners to bring blood drives closer to people and engage a new generation of regular donors.

How we act

Turning engagement into sustainable impact.

File l’Espoir operates through four complementary approaches that help turn awareness into real donor action.

Awareness

Raising awareness and addressing misconceptions through educational and community-driven campaigns.

Engage

Training and mobilizing a new generation ready to take action.

Organize

Organizing mobile blood drives with our partners in universities, companies, neighborhoods, and communities.

Collaborate

Building institutional and private partnerships to strengthen and sustain our impact.

Video: "For Those Who Keep Hope Alive"

“Before I was introduced to blood donation, I thought it was mostly for adults, not for young people like me. Then I realized that everyone has a role to play. A single donation can save up to three lives. Giving blood means giving a part of yourself so that someone else can continue to live. It is a powerful act of civic engagement with a direct and concrete impact. Once I understood that, donating blood became obvious to me. Because when you know you can help save lives, staying indifferent is no longer an option.”
